FTC Loses Personal Information In Laptop Theft Incident

Last week the FTC made news after an employee lost two laptop computers containing personal information.

Although the news received little fanfare – possibly because only 110 personal records were affected - this exposure should have raised a few more eyebrows.

This incident showed the FTC might not have its house in order - even though the organization’s been charged to lead the battle for privacy and charge against identity theft for the American nation.

This begs the question: How well can an organization lead a nation to protect personal privacy from threat like identity theft when the organization hasn't taken the proper steps itself?
